Dear little girl,
You are beautiful. You are strong. You are fearless. You are independent. You are good. You are full of life. You are intriguing. You are quirky. You are smart. You are precious. You are you.
You walk like you own the world even though you very well know that the world doesn’t revolve around you. Keep that walk forever. Hold your head up high and don’t ever let people diminish your shine with the words they will speak over you, about you, and to you. Continue to sparkle.
Try not to worry so much about every little thing. Trust me, the things you are worrying about now will not matter 5 years from now.
People are going to be so cruel to you. People are going to try their hardest to change you, break you, and make you believe their lies. People are going to spread various rumors about you that are completely false. You will find out things after high school that you never knew about yourself. You will find out very weird things that people believe you did in high school, but you didn’t.
Remember the day when you told your mom and your grandma, “Ain’t no boy getting all of this!” You said that with so much sass as you pointed up and down at your body. Stay true to you, Kiana. Remember your morals. Don’t become that girl. The girl that doesn’t hold herself with the upmost respect.
You will break, and I mean you will be completely broken and want to give up. But you won’t give up when you really, and I mean really want to because you believe for more out of this life. You will go places that people may never get to go. You will see aspects of life differently because of the places you will go. You will always appreciate the little things.
If you stay on the path that the Lord has for you, you will flourish into a woman who will have all the needs and desires of her heart. You will see and be blessed abundantly. I hope you truly forgive yourself for your past and live in the present. No shame, my dear. Love yourself.
Love,
The older, wiser me.
