Thinking of having a gender reveal party? In this post I am breaking down 3 Tips to Plan the Perfect Gender Reveal Party the simplest way I can while sharing the details of our Gender Reveal. I am so glad I had the Gender Reveal Party. It is something we will remember for the rest of our lives. It was such a fun fast event shared with both of our families.
1. Keep it Simple
If you are on a budget keep the decorations, guest list, and food to a minimum. Even if you are not on a budget, keep it simple. It was much easier to plan a simple Gender Reveal Party vs. an extravagant over the top Gender Reveal Party. It was easier to decide for both the food and decorations. You can also decide if you want to have games or an activity for your guests leading up to the reveal. We decided to do prediction and advice on a cute little card that was in the shape of a onesie. We also passed around Ultrasound photos for our family members to see. It was perfect! Ultimately we decided to have a small gathering with just family. Both our immediate families, aunts and uncles, grandmas and grandpas. It was the perfect amount of people to celebrate this news with!💌🎊
2. Pick your Reveal Method and Place
We went with a giant balloon that said “Boy or Girl?” The giant balloon was really affordable.🎈We got ours from party city. You can buy it here. This was the easiest option to me. All we had to do was hand the sales associate our sealed envelope and they filled the balloon with the correct color confetti and handed our envelope back to us resealed.✉️ We had our reveal in the garage of my in laws (we lived here while our house was being built) because we did not want to get rained on. At this time of year it was so humid in MN and looked like possible rain that day.
3. Pick a Theme
We went with white and gold🤍, or I should say I went with that.😂 Let’s be honest, Josh did not get a say in the theme. Haha! I loved this theme in comparison to the typical pink and blue. This felt more glamorous to me!✨ I was happy with how everything turned out.
IS HAVING A GENDER REVEAL PARTY RIGHT FOR YOU?
If you want to do something fun while finding out the gender of your baby, then yes it is right for you. If you don’t really care to make it a big deal, then don’t do it. It really is that simple. I wanted to do a Gender Reveal Party simply because I thought it would be fun. Was it fun? Yes, there was so much anticipation leading up to our party. We had the 20 Week Ultrasound to find out the gender on Monday, I had a 3 day work week this week. I went shopping for a few things for our party and started prepping on Thursday. We signed off on starting the building process for our house and put money down on Friday, blew up all of the balloons and set up all the decorations on Friday, and we had the Gender Reveal Party on Saturday. It was also my birthday weekend! Finding out our baby was a girl made my birthday weekend even more special!🥳
FOOD AND DECORATIONS
We had tacos for the main course of food because everyone in our family likes tacos. 🌮 My mother in law and sister in law helped with the food and decor prep. For our beverages we had pink lemonade and blue punch for drinks – cliché pink and blue! What’s a party without dessert? Our dessert options were the following: watermelon, sugar cookies, peanut butter cookies, and lemon bars. As far as decor goes my mother in law had white table cloths, candles, and brown burlap table runners which we tied bows on the end. It all came together beautifully.✨
THINGS WE BOUGHT
Everything for our party – Special made to order cookies (my sister in law’s friend made them for us), balloon garland, Oh Baby backdrop (we already had the back drop stand from one of my Wedding Showers), balloon blower upper, baby onesie guessing cards. I also bought a dress for the event – I stuck to the cliché pink and blue theme for my dress.🎀
Since this was our first baby, we did not want anyone to know the gender prior to the party. We didn’t even know the gender, but I wanted a girl so badly. I had been praying for her for months and God gave me the desires of my heart.🙏🏾 I am a little bit of a perfectionist when it comes to parties… I wanted to do everything. Which is so me, LOL. I was very pleased with how our party turned out and that we had a girl, of course.
